It's built to commute: about $800 a year in electricity, near-silent around town, and roomier in the back seat than most compact SUVs thanks to a wheelbase 10 inches longer than the gas Equinox. What you give up is muscle and flexibility — 213 hp and about 7.9 seconds to 60 in the volume front-drive trim, a 1,500-lb tow ceiling, no front trunk, and no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto at any price. Buy it if the math and the daily drive matter more than the driving, and go in expecting weak resale (roughly 42% after five years) now that the $7,500 federal credit is gone.
