A mixed-report luxury gt, strong on driving and held back by ownership.

The 2026 Taycan is the best-driving electric car you can buy — the steering, brakes and chassis are genuinely in a class of one — and the 2025 facelift fixed its biggest flaw by pushing the rear-drive car to 318 EPA miles with 320 kW fast charging that refills 10-80% in about 18 minutes. What it asks in return is brutal: roughly $103,000 to start, closer to $118,000 as most people build one, about $3,600 a year to insure, and the worst depreciation of any vehicle sold in America at roughly 36% value retained after five years. It is also a strict four-seater with 33 inches of rear legroom and a 14.3 cu ft trunk, and Porsche still charges extra for blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise on a six-figure car. Buy it because you will drive it every day and love it — not because it is a sensible way to own an EV.
