The verdict

A mixed-report mid-size sedan, strong on efficiency and held back by technology.

The 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid is a standout commuter car wrapped in the last year of the familiar ninth-generation body — 48 MPG combined, a 758-mile tank range, and Honda Sensing driver-assist tech standard on every trim, including the base car, for about $30,480 to start. The tradeoffs are real: the battery pack shrinks the trunk to 13.5 cu ft, the infotainment system is dated and sluggish, and there's no AWD or quick-acceleration thrill here. It's the right car for someone who wants a comfortable, low-cost-to-run sedan and doesn't care much about screens or back-road fun.

#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

The electric motor supplies the vehicle's peak torque figure, as published by Honda; the 2.0L engine alone produces 129 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm.

0–60 mph time
6.9 sec (Touring)
40/100
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Instrumented test result for the 2017 Accord Hybrid Touring, consistent with the model's 212 hp system output.

Powertrain refinement85
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

The redesigned two-motor i-MMD system for 2017 was praised by reviewers for smooth, quiet gas/electric transitions and immediate low-end torque from the electric motor, with little of the coarseness that marked some rival hybrids of the era.

Transmission behavior85
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

The Accord Hybrid has no conventional step-gear or belt-CVT transmission — the i-MMD system direct-drives from the engine at a single fixed ratio at highway speed and otherwise runs the wheels off the electric motor, which reviewers noted eliminates the rubber-band drone typical of conventional CVTs.

AWD/4WD availability8
#4 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

FWD only across all three 2017 Accord Hybrid trims (Base, EX-L, Touring) — Honda did not offer AWD on any 2017 Accord variant, gas or hybrid.

Powertrain lineup breadth65
#3 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

The 2017 Accord range spans a 2.4L I4, a 3.5L V6, and this second-generation hybrid — three distinct, mainstream powertrain choices including one electrified option, but no turbo or plug-in variant.

2Efficiency & RangeThe Accord's best-graded category.4.00A+
3SafetyOne of the Accord's strongest categories.2.83B-
NHTSA overall rating
5 stars overall (4-star frontal, 5-star side, 5-star rollover)
100/100
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

NHTSA's overall score for the 2017 Accord 4-door sedan, which the Hybrid shares structurally, was the maximum 5 stars despite a 4-star frontal subscore.

IIHS awards & crashworthiness88
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

IIHS rated the 2017 Accord sedan Good across every crashworthiness test (small overlap front driver and passenger, moderate overlap, side, roof strength, head restraints) and awarded Top Safety Pick+, though that award applied only to configurations with the optional front crash prevention and Acceptable-or-better headlights — the Touring's standard LED headlights rated only Marginal.

Standard ADAS suite breadth85
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Unlike the gas Accord (where Honda Sensing was a $1,000 option below Touring), the 2017 Accord Hybrid carried the full Honda Sensing suite — forward collision warning, collision mitigation braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, road departure mitigation, and adaptive cruise control — standard on every Hybrid trim. True blind-spot monitoring/BSM was not part of the suite, which keeps this short of the top band.

Automatic emergency braking performance80
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

IIHS rated the Collision Mitigation Braking System Superior for vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention, avoiding collisions outright in both the 12 mph and 25 mph test scenarios. Owner reviews note the system is hypersensitive (frequent false-alarm braking alerts), which is a usability complaint rather than a capability shortfall, and period testing did not evaluate pedestrian detection.

Blind-spot & cross-traffic coverage25
#6 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

The Accord Hybrid's Honda Sensing suite did not include blind-spot monitoring or rear cross-traffic alert in 2017; higher trims offered the passenger-side Honda LaneWatch camera instead, which is a camera view rather than an active alert system.

Lane keeping & centering55
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

LKAS provided mild steering assistance to help stay centered in a detected lane, but owner feedback describes noticeable "snaking"/weaving within the lane rather than confident, smooth centering typical of more refined period systems.

Adaptive cruise & highway assist60
#2 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

ACC was standard across the Hybrid lineup and handled highway slow-downs capably, but reviewers flagged rough edges — braking too abruptly and resuming speed too slowly/inconsistently for smooth following.

Hands-free driving availability0
#6 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

No hands-free highway driving system was offered on the 2017 Accord Hybrid; LKAS required the driver to keep hands on the wheel.

Headlight performance45
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

IIHS rated the halogen projector headlights used on LX/Sport/EX/EX-L trims Acceptable, while the Touring's standard LED reflector units actually scored worse, Marginal, with high-beam assist only partly compensating. No trim achieved a Good rating.

Outward visibility72
#2 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

The 9th-generation Accord's greenhouse gives good forward sightlines and a standard rearview camera on every trim aids reversing; thick rear roof pillars and the sloping roofline create some rear-quarter blind spots, partially offset by optional LaneWatch on higher trims.

Child-seat (LATCH) usability58
#3 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

IIHS rated LATCH ease of use Acceptable on LX-spec Accords but only Marginal on EX-spec cars, citing difficult maneuverability around the anchors in one seating position — a mixed result that keeps this in the middle band rather than the top.

4Space & ComfortMid-pack among this car's ten categories.2.39C+
Seating capacity

Standard 5-passenger seating across all 2017 Accord Hybrid trims.

Front headroom
37.6 in (EX-L/Touring w/ moonroof; 39.1 in on base Hybrid without moonroof)
40/100
#6 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

EX-L is the volume trim and carries the power moonroof, which reduces headroom versus the sunroof-delete base Hybrid.

Front legroom
42.5 in (all trims)
63/100
#4 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Front legroom is identical across base, EX-L and Touring hybrid trims.

Rear headroom
37.0 in (EX-L/Touring w/ moonroof; 37.5 in on base Hybrid)
50/100
#6 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

EX-L volume trim's moonroof trims a few tenths of rear headroom versus the base Hybrid.

Rear legroom
38.5 in (all trims)
65/100
#2 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Rear legroom is identical across all 2017 Accord Hybrid trims and competitive for the mid-size sedan class.

Cargo/trunk volume
13.5 cu ft (all trims)
35/100
#5 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

The lithium-ion battery pack sits behind the rear seat, cutting trunk volume well below the 16.7 cu ft of the equivalent gas Accord sedan.

In-cabin storage & clever solutions55
#3 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Conventional console bin, door pockets and a covered center cubby are adequate but unremarkable; the hybrid battery placement also removes the pass-through/split-fold trunk flexibility some rivals offer.

Seat comfort76
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Reviewers consistently praised the 9th-generation Accord's front seats for long-haul support, and the EX-L's leather-trimmed, heated seats add to the comfort case; rear seat is comfortable for two with usable room for a third.

Ride quality75
#3 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Multiple period road tests describe a composed, absorbent ride that handles broken pavement and expansion joints without harshness, aided by the added mass of the battery pack over the rear axle.

Cabin quietness68
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Silent EV-mode launches and a well-isolated Atkinson engine keep the cabin hushed in normal driving, though the fixed-gear direct-drive mode produces some engine drone under hard acceleration.

Climate & comfort features60
#2 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

EX-L volume trim adds heated front and outboard-rear seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a one-touch power moonroof; no ventilated seats or heated steering wheel were offered on any 2017 Accord Hybrid trim.

5Cost of OwnershipMid-pack among this car's ten categories.2.47C+

Entry-level Accord Hybrid base trim MSRP, including destination, for the 2017 model year.

Volume-Trim Price
$33,780 (EX-L, incl. $875 destination)
71/100
#6 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

EX-L is the volume Accord Hybrid trim (mid of the 3-trim lineup: Base, EX-L, Touring), priced $32,905 + $875 destination.

5-Year Maintenance & Repair Cost
~$1,900 over 5 years (modeled on conventional Accord; hybrid likely similar or slightly lower due to regenerative braking)
100/100
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Hybrid-specific 5-year Edmunds TCO data was not retrievable (host blocked automated access); used the conventional Accord's RepairPal-class 5-year maintenance+repair figure as the best available proxy, since Honda hybrids share service intervals with the gas model aside from battery coolant checks.

5-Year Resale Value Retention
~61.7% of MSRP retained after 5 years
89/100
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Aggregate resale-value tracking for the Accord Hybrid nameplate; strong relative to the sedan segment despite hybrid battery depreciation concerns being a modest drag versus the gas Accord.

Basic warranty
3 yr / 36,000 mi bumper-to-bumper
0/100
#2 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Standard Honda limited warranty for the 2017 model year, at the short end of the mainstream-segment range (3-5 yr).

Powertrain warranty
5 yr / 60,000 mi powertrain; hybrid battery separately covered 8 yr/100,000 mi (10 yr/150,000 mi in CARB states)
0/100
#2 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Standard 5-year/60,000-mile Honda powertrain warranty, at the short end of the segment range, though the hybrid-unique battery pack carries materially longer emissions-mandated coverage noted in displayValue.

Complimentary maintenance & perks30
#6 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Honda did not offer a complimentary scheduled-maintenance program in 2017 (unlike Toyota's ToyotaCare standard on the same-era Camry); roadside assistance and HondaLink connected trials existed but were not a meaningful included-maintenance benefit.

Effective 5-Year Ownership Cost
$14,838 (≈$12,938 depreciation + $1,900 maintenance)
88/100
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

$33,780 volume-trim price minus its estimated resale value after 5 years (61.7% retained, or about $20,842) leaves about $12,938 in depreciation. Add the projected $1,900 in 5-year maintenance and repairs, and owning this vehicle for 5 years costs about $14,838 in total.

6Reliability & QualityMid-pack among this car's ten categories.2.48C+
Predicted reliability58
#5 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Sources disagree on this specific powertrain: Consumer Reports rates the 2013-2017 Accord generation overall as 'Recommended' and above-average versus other 2017 models, but J.D. Power's predicted-reliability rating for the 2017 Accord Hybrid specifically was below average (2.5/5) — the new-for-2017 2.0L i-MMD two-motor hybrid system lacked the multi-year track record the gas Accord had.

Brand reliability track record68
#2 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Honda's brand dependability standing in the mid-2010s was solid but not consistently top-5 — J.D. Power's U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study placed Honda mid-pack among mass-market brands in this era (reports place it outside the top 10, while individual Honda models like the Ridgeline and Accord sedan scored well), and Consumer Reports has long rated Honda as an above-average but not class-leading brand.

Recall & TSB history58
#4 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

NHTSA lists 3 recalls touching the 2017 Accord: a 2019 fuel pump recall (fuel pump failure can cause engine stall) and a follow-up 2023 fuel pump recall for the same underlying Denso pump defect, plus a later front passenger airbag sensor recall. Two separate fuel-pump campaigns for the same failure mode is more than a one-off, though none involve fire or structural failure.

Powertrain durability reputation58
#2 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

The 2017 Accord Hybrid introduced an all-new 2.0L Atkinson-cycle two-motor (Sport Hybrid i-MMD) powertrain replacing the 2014-2015 Accord Hybrid's system, so it entered 2017 with no long-term track record. Owner reports since note scattered inverter coolant pump failures and hybrid-system electrical gremlins, but no widespread catastrophic failure pattern; the conventional 2.4L block underneath is a well-proven Honda design.

Interior material quality76
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Reviewers consistently praised the facelifted 2016-2017 Accord's cabin materials as a cut above mid-2010s midsize-sedan rivals, with soft-touch surfaces throughout the main touch points; a minority of reviews note some lower-grade plastics in secondary areas, typical for the mainstream price class.

Fit & finish76
#2 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Assembly quality was reported as tight and consistent with panel gaps and switchgear that held up well, though owner forums flag easily-chipped paint as a recurring cosmetic complaint on this generation.

Dealer & service network78
#4 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Honda runs one of the largest dealer networks in the US with broadly solid service-satisfaction scores through the mid-2010s, giving Accord owners easy access to service and loaner/maintenance programs nationwide.

Parts availability & repair cost88
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

The Accord's huge production volume and long market presence mean abundant OEM and aftermarket parts and low labor familiarity at any shop; RepairPal rates the Accord's average annual repair cost well below the midsize-sedan average, among the best in its class, though hybrid-specific components (battery pack, inverter) cost more than the gas model's equivalents.

7Technology & InfotainmentThe Accord's lowest-graded category.0.57F
Touchscreen size
7 in Display Audio touchscreen (EX-L/Touring; base Hybrid has a non-touch i-MID display only)
0/100
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

EX-L, the volume trim, gets the 7-inch WVGA Display Audio touchscreen; the entry Hybrid trim makes do with a smaller non-touch multi-information display.

Infotainment UX & responsiveness55
#3 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Honda's early Display Audio software was criticized for sluggish response and a cluttered capacitive layout, though 2017 restored a physical volume knob that had been removed in 2016 after owner backlash.

Wireless CarPlay / Android Auto52
#2 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on the EX-L/Touring Display Audio system; the base Hybrid trim with the non-touch i-MID lacks smartphone projection entirely. Wireless projection did not exist in this era.

Voice control & native navigation42
#2 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Built-in navigation with voice recognition is exclusive to the top Touring trim; the EX-L volume trim has no native nav and relies on phone-projected maps, and Honda's own voice command system of this era was widely considered clunky.

Audio system quality58
#2 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

EX-L and Touring step up to a 7-speaker system with HD and satellite radio that reviewers called adequate but not a standout premium setup; no branded premium audio option (e.g. no ELS/Bose equivalent) was offered on the Hybrid.

Digital instrument cluster32
#4 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

The 2017 Accord Hybrid retains analog speedometer/power gauges flanking a small multi-information display rather than a configurable full-digital cluster; no trim offered a full digital gauge package.

OTA update capability12
#2 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Honda's 2017-model-year infotainment stack had no over-the-air update capability of any kind; software and map updates, where offered, required a dealer visit or USB/SD card.

Companion app & remote functions45
#3 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

HondaLink offered basic remote lock/unlock and, on equipped trims, remote engine start, but functionality was limited compared to later-generation connected apps and some remote features were fob-only rather than app-based.

Charging ports & device power42
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

EX-L adds a second USB port (1.5-amp front, 1.0-amp center console) beyond the base Hybrid's single 1.0-amp port; no wireless charging pad was offered on any 2017 Accord Hybrid trim.

Keyless & remote access65
#2 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

EX-L includes Smart Entry proximity access with push-button start and fob-based remote engine start, a solid keyless package for the era though well short of modern phone-as-key systems.

Camera & parking aids50
#3 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

A multi-angle rearview camera is standard on every trim and EX-L/Touring add Honda LaneWatch (a passenger-side blind-spot camera), but there is no 360-degree surround view or front/rear parking sensors on any Accord Hybrid trim.

Head-up display availability10
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

No 2017 Accord Hybrid trim offered a head-up display, a feature absent from the Accord lineup until the following generation.

8Use-Case FitOne of the Accord's weakest categories.1.45D
Kid & car-seat practicality58
#4 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Wide rear door openings and 38.5 in of rear legroom make car-seat installation and kid access easy, but the hybrid's battery pack shrinks the trunk to 13.5 cu ft, a real squeeze for a stroller alongside other gear.

Family safety package78
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Honda made the full Honda Sensing suite (forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control) standard on every Accord Hybrid trim including the base car, a strong value proposition for family buyers.

Family road-trip comfort64
#2 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Competitive rear legroom and a quiet, smooth-riding cabin suit multi-hour trips for four, but rear climate vents are the only rear amenity (no rear USB/screens) and the small trunk caps how much luggage a family can bring.

Daily driving ease80
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Smooth, seamless gas/electric transitions, light and direct steering, and quiet EV-mode launches make the Accord Hybrid an easy, low-fatigue daily driver in traffic.

Commuting cost efficiency85
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

48 MPG combined EPA rating (49 city/47 highway) was best-in-class for a midsize sedan in 2017, giving it exceptionally low per-mile fuel costs for a commute.

Parking & maneuverability62
#4 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

A midsize-sedan footprint with a 38.2 ft curb-to-curb turning diameter and a standard rearview camera make it reasonably easy to park and thread through traffic, though it's no smaller or more agile in town than its gas-powered sibling.

Work capability12
#5 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

A midsize hybrid sedan with no tow rating and a shrunken 13.5 cu ft trunk offers essentially no work capability.

Durability for work duty28
#6 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Honda's mechanical reputation is solid, but the Accord Hybrid is a passenger-comfort-oriented sedan with no fleet/commercial work positioning or hardened trim options.

Jobsite & upfit practicality8
#5 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

A hybrid sedan trunk has no tie-downs, onboard power outlets, or upfit ecosystem of any kind.

Long-distance comfort & range76
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

48 MPG combined efficiency stretches highway range well past 500 miles on a 12.7-gallon tank, paired with comfortable long-haul seats, standard adaptive cruise control, and a quiet cabin — a strong mile-eater package.

Outdoor & adventure capability18
#5 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Front-wheel drive only, no AWD option, and standard sedan ground clearance leave the Accord Hybrid pavement-bound with no meaningful off-pavement or towing capability.

Gear & luggage flexibility38
#5 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

The hybrid's battery pack behind the rear seat both shrinks total trunk space to 13.5 cu ft and, on some trims, limits or removes the 60/40 split-folding seatback that the gas Accord offers, restricting bulky gear hauling versus rivals.

9Driving ExperienceMid-pack among this car's ten categories.2.43C+
Handling & agility62
#4 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Reviewers described the Accord Hybrid as reassuring and tight through curves thanks to added battery mass low over the rear axle, but poised rather than exciting — competent, not a dynamic standout.

Steering feel67
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

The Accord Hybrid's electric power steering was praised in period reviews as direct and naturally weighted with genuine feedback, above average for a midsize hybrid sedan.

Braking confidence68
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Honda's second-generation i-MMD brake-by-wire system blended regenerative and friction braking smoothly for its era, avoiding the grabby, inconsistent pedal feel that plagued earlier hybrid brakes.

Powertrain smoothness & response82
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

The redesigned two-motor i-MMD hybrid system introduced for 2017 was widely praised for seamless, nearly imperceptible transitions between EV, hybrid, and engine-direct-drive modes.

Drivetrain noise & vibration70
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

The Atkinson-cycle engine and electric motor are well isolated and quiet in normal driving and silent in EV mode, though the fixed-ratio direct-drive mode introduces some engine drone under hard acceleration.

Turning circle
38.2 ft curb-to-curb (all trims)
30/100
#6 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Turning diameter is identical across all 2017 Accord Hybrid trims and typical for a midsize sedan.

Driving position & ergonomics71
#2 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Power-adjustable front seats, a telescoping wheel, and a logically arranged dash give most drivers an easy time finding a good position; sightlines are good to the front with some thick-pillar rear-quarter blind spots typical of the 9th-generation body.

Fun-to-drive factor58
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Direct steering and tidy handling give the Accord Hybrid a bit more personality than most hybrid sedans — one review even titled it a 'fun-to-drive hybrid' — but it remains a comfort-first commuter rather than an enthusiast's car.

10Value & Market PositionOne of the Accord's strongest categories.2.67C+
Standard equipment generosity78
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Every 2017 Accord Hybrid trim, including the base, came standard with the Honda Sensing suite (collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise, lane-keeping assist) plus LED headlights/taillights and the 7-inch Display Audio touchscreen, when rivals still charged extra for comparable active-safety suites.

Feature value per dollar74
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

212 combined hp and a class-leading 48 MPG combined for a sub-$30K starting price, with standard driver-assist tech, made the Hybrid a strong content-per-dollar proposition versus the Fusion Hybrid and Camry Hybrid of the era, tempered by the narrower trim choice than the gas Accord.

Trim & configuration breadth52
#6 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Only three Hybrid trims (base, EX-L, Touring) versus the gas Accord's much wider LX-to-Touring/V6 lineup — a reasonable but noticeably narrower spread with gaps between the base and EX-L price points.

Sales popularity & market acceptance70
#4 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

The Accord nameplate overall remained a perennial top-3 mid-size sedan seller in the US through 2017, though the Hybrid variant specifically was a low-volume niche (Honda targeted barely over 20,000 units annually) that had even been paused for the 2016 model year before returning for 2017.

Brand desirability & image75
#3 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Honda carried (and carries) a strong mainstream reputation for reliability and resale, with the Accord specifically regarded as a segment benchmark, supporting broad desirability without being an aspirational/luxury halo brand.

Deals & incentive availability55
#5 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

Honda historically runs lighter incentives than domestic rivals given steady demand, but the slow-selling Hybrid trim plausibly saw modest dealer discounting and competitive financing to move volume toward its sales target.

Model freshness38
#4 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

2017 is the final model year of the ninth-generation Accord (2013-2017, facelifted for 2016) before the all-new tenth generation arrived for 2018, so the platform and interior tech were aging with a redesign imminent.

Critical reception & awards82
#1 of 6 Mid-Size CarsCompare all →

The 2017 Accord lineup won more Kelley Blue Book awards than any other vehicle that year (Midsize Car Best Buy, 10 Best Sedans Under $25,000), and the Hybrid was separately named one of KBB's 10 Best Hybrid Cars Under $40,000, on top of the nameplate's long Car and Driver 10Best history.
