The verdict

A struggling subcompact luxury suv, strong on value and held back by efficiency.

The 2020 XC40 is a stylish, very safe small luxury SUV with a low entry price. It earned five stars from NHTSA, an IIHS Top Safety Pick and Superior ratings for its standard emergency braking. Its cabin is clever, with excellent front seats and storage tucked everywhere. The trade-offs are a small cargo hold (20.7 cu ft), a thirsty T5 that drinks premium fuel (25 MPG, about $3,300 a year), a short 4-year/50,000-mile warranty and Sensus infotainment that already felt dated. It suits city dwellers and small households who put safety and design ahead of hauling space and running costs.

Detailed scoring by subject

1Performance & PowertrainOne of the XC40's weakest categories.0.95F
Horsepower
248 hp (T5 AWD 2.0L turbo); T4 FWD 187 hp
25/100
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

2020 is the second US model year of the first generation, a carry-over on the conventional T4/T5 Drive-E engines. The volume T5 AWD makes 248 hp; the base T4 front-driver 187 hp. The Recharge EV had not yet reached the US.

Torque
258 lb-ft (T5); 221 lb-ft (T4)
35/100
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

258 lb-ft from the T5 arrives low in the rev range for brisk around-town response; middling for the subcompact luxury class.

0–60 mph time
6.2 s (T5 AWD); ~8 s (T4 FWD)
55/100
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

The T5 AWD reaches 60 mph in about 6.2 seconds, quick for the segment; the T4 front-driver is considerably slower.

Powertrain refinement65
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

The T5 turbo four pulls strongly once boost builds, but reviewers note a beat of turbo lag from rest, an abrupt conventional stop-start and a coarse note when worked hard.

Transmission behavior62
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

The Aisin 8-speed automatic shifts cleanly once moving but low-speed take-up can be hesitant, especially on stop-start restarts; R-Design adds paddles.

Max towing capacity
3,500 lbs properly equipped
36/100
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

3,500 lbs is competitive for a subcompact luxury SUV — enough for a small camper or a pair of jet skis.

AWD/4WD availability60
#7 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

AWD comes with the T5 on every trim level (Momentum, R-Design, Inscription), but the T4 is front-drive only and the system is a conventional on-demand setup with no low range or lockers.

Off-road capability35
#4 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Around 8.3 in of ground clearance and hill descent control with an off-road drive mode are decent for the class, but there are no skid plates, lockers or off-road trim — pavement-oriented.

Powertrain lineup breadth42
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

For 2020 the US XC40 offered only two versions of the same 2.0L turbo four (T4 FWD, T5 AWD) — no hybrid, PHEV or EV yet; the Recharge Pure Electric was revealed in October 2019 but went on sale in late 2020 as a 2021 model.

2Efficiency & RangeThe XC40's lowest-graded category.0.54F
3SafetyOne of the XC40's strongest categories.2.72B-
NHTSA overall rating
5 stars overall (2020 XC40 T4 FWD and T5 AWD; 5★ frontal, 5★ side, 4★ rollover)
100/100
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

NHTSA rated both 2020 XC40 variants five stars overall, with five-star frontal and side results. The rollover rating is four stars, which is typical for a tall subcompact SUV.

IIHS awards & crashworthiness82
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

The 2020 XC40 earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick with Good ratings in every crashworthiness test. It falls short of TSP+ because the award applies only to cars with the Advanced-package headlights; the standard lamps rate Poor.

Standard ADAS suite breadth60
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Every trim gets City Safety AEB (pedestrian, cyclist and large-animal detection), Lane Keeping Aid, Run-off Road Mitigation and oncoming-lane mitigation. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and adaptive cruise were optional for 2020, so the core is standard but key items cost extra.

Automatic emergency braking performance82
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

The standard City Safety system earned IIHS's top rating (Superior) in both the vehicle-to-vehicle and daytime pedestrian tests. IIHS did not run a nighttime pedestrian test in 2020, so there is no night result to weigh.

Blind-spot & cross-traffic coverage58
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

When fitted, BLIS (with steer assist) and Cross Traffic Alert with autobrake both actively intervene. Both were optional on the 2020 car, though, not standard across the range.

Lane keeping & centering64
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Lane Keeping Aid and lane departure warning are standard. True lane centering comes only with Pilot Assist in the optional Advanced Package. Reviewers describe Volvo's centering of this era as conservative, and it tends to disengage on faded lines.

Adaptive cruise & highway assist62
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Pilot Assist is full-speed-range ACC with stop-and-go and steering support, so the system itself is capable. It is an extra-cost Advanced Package item rather than standard, and reviewers note it brakes abruptly on cut-ins.

Hands-free driving availability10
#3 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

No hands-free highway driving was offered on any 2020 XC40. Pilot Assist requires the driver's hands on the wheel.

Headlight performance45
#5 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

IIHS rated two headlight variants. The curve-adaptive LEDs that come with the optional Advanced Package rate Good. The standard non-adaptive LED reflectors fitted to the volume configuration rate Poor, which is also why the 2020 award is limited.

Outward visibility70
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

The upright, boxy body and high seat give good forward and side sightlines for a subcompact. The rising beltline and thick rear pillars limit the rear three-quarter view, and the 360° camera that compensates is optional (Advanced Package).

Child-seat (LATCH) usability62
#5 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

IIHS rates the XC40's LATCH Acceptable, with full hardware at two rear positions and a tether-only third. Square door openings help with installation, but the subcompact rear makes three-across and rear-facing seats tight.

4Space & ComfortOne of the XC40's weakest categories.1.06D

39.0 in front headroom without the panoramic roof, mid-band for an SUV; the optional/upper-trim panoramic moonroof trims it noticeably.

Front legroom
40.9 in
20/100
#3 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Near the bottom of the SUV band — the short 106.4-in wheelbase limits seat travel, though most drivers fit comfortably.

Rear headroom
39.1 in (without moonroof; ~38.3 in with panoramic roof)
78/100
#3 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

The upright, boxy roofline gives generous rear head clearance — the XC40's best passenger-space figure.

Rear legroom
36.1 in
51/100
#4 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Competitive for a subcompact luxury SUV, ahead of the Audi Q3 and Lexus UX, but knee room tightens behind a tall driver.

Third-row usability20
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

No third row is offered on any 2020 XC40; scored in the low band as required for a two-row SUV.

Cargo/trunk volume
20.7 cu ft behind 2nd row (Volvo figure; 16.0 cu ft to the cover in some listings)
0/100
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

About 21 cu ft behind the rear seat sits below the SUV band floor; small cargo space is a consistent criticism of the first-generation XC40.

Max cargo volume
57.5 cu ft with 60/40 rear seat folded (46.9 cu ft in some listings)
6/100
#3 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Just above the SUV band floor; roughly par with the BMW X1 among subcompact luxury rivals.

In-cabin storage & clever solutions84
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Small-item storage is the XC40's signature: the dash-mounted woofer frees laptop-sized door bins, plus a removable console bin, under-seat drawers, a folding cargo-floor divider with bag hooks and an underfloor cubby.

Seat comfort78
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Volvo's supportive front seats are a class benchmark for long drives; the rear bench is flatter with a short cushion, and some reviewers flagged front ergonomics (armrest/seat shape) as a fit issue for certain drivers.

Ride quality64
#3 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Reviewers praise a comfortable, refined ride, but the short wheelbase and 19–20 in wheels on R-Design/Inscription make it busy over broken pavement.

Cabin quietness72
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Wind and engine noise are well muted at cruise for a subcompact, though coarse-surface road roar intrudes more than in larger Volvos, especially on big wheels.

Climate & comfort features68
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Dual-zone auto climate with rear vents is standard; heated front seats, heated wheel and heated washer nozzles come in the Climate package on every trim, and remote pre-conditioning via Volvo On Call is available. No ventilated seats.

5Cost of OwnershipOne of the XC40's strongest categories.2.40C+
Base MSRP
$34,695 (T4 Momentum FWD, $33,700 + $995 destination)
76/100
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

The 2020 lineup opens with the 187-hp T4 Momentum front-driver at $33,700 plus $995 destination, one of the lowest entry prices in the subcompact luxury SUV class.

Volume-Trim Price
~$39,500 (T5 AWD Momentum with Premium package/paint; $36,695–$43,445 T5 range before options, incl. destination)
70/100
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

The T5 AWD is the volume powertrain scored elsewhere for this year; a T5 Momentum with the Premium package and metallic paint, or a lightly optioned T5 R-Design/Inscription, typically lands around $39.5K with destination.

5-Year Maintenance & Repair Cost
~$4,300 over 5 years (first 3 yr / 36K mi scheduled maintenance included)
80/100
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Volvo's complimentary 3-year/36,000-mile factory scheduled maintenance covers routine service in years 1–3, so five-year out-of-pocket cost is modest; years 4–5 fall outside the 4-yr/50K warranty on a conventional turbo four.

5-Year Resale Value Retention
~53% of MSRP retained at 5 years
43/100
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Volvo residuals trail the German set, but a MY2020 car's first five years spanned the 2021–2022 used-car price spike, which propped its values above the generation's long-run norm; a ~$39.5K T5 AWD now trades around the low $20Ks.

Basic warranty
4 yr / 50,000 mi bumper-to-bumper
50/100
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Volvo's US new-vehicle limited warranty is 4 years/50,000 miles, matching BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz.

Powertrain warranty
4 yr / 50,000 mi (no separate extended powertrain term)
0/100
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Volvo offers no longer powertrain term on the gas XC40; engine and drivetrain share the 4-year/50,000-mile basic coverage, below the 5–10 year band.

Complimentary maintenance & perks82
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Volvo includes 3 years/36,000 miles of factory scheduled maintenance plus 4 years of roadside assistance and a Volvo On Call connected-services period — multi-year maintenance that Audi Q3 and Mercedes GLA buyers don't get.

Effective 5-Year Ownership Cost
$22,865 (≈$18,565 depreciation + $4,300 maintenance)
70/100
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

$39,500 volume-trim price minus its estimated resale value after 5 years (53% retained, or about $20,935) leaves about $18,565 in depreciation. Add the projected $4,300 in 5-year maintenance and repairs, and owning this vehicle for 5 years costs about $22,865 in total.

6Reliability & QualityMid-pack among this car's ten categories.2.34C+
Predicted reliability66
#3 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

2020 is the second US model year of the 2019+ CMA generation, a carry-over with the T4/T5 2.0T and Sensus infotainment. J.D. Power rates its quality as average. Consumer Reports' rating improved after the launch year, and owner complaints centre on navigation/infotainment and climate control rather than the engine, which puts it mid-band.

Brand reliability track record50
#5 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Volvo has ranked below the industry average in J.D. Power's dependability study for several years, mostly on electrical and infotainment faults. Consumer Reports puts the brand in the lower half rather than at the bottom, which places it on the mid-pack/low boundary.

Recall & TSB history76
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

The 2020 gas XC40 has one NHTSA campaign: a software fix for the City Safety automatic emergency braking. The 2019 launch-year recalls (brake pedal rivets, rear seatback strikers, software) don't reach 2020, and the 2021+ rearview-camera recalls start a year later. That is light recall activity, though the AEB recall touches a safety system.

Powertrain durability reputation67
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

The 2020 gas XC40 uses the mature 2.0L VEA (Drive-E) turbo four in T4/T5 tune with the Aisin 8-speed automatic. The engine family has no catastrophic failure mode. Known wear items are timing-belt service, PCV faults and direct-injection carbon buildup.

Interior material quality76
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Reviewers praise the cabin's Scandinavian design, felt and textile surfaces, and solid switchgear, all above the segment norm for the price. It stops short of class-leading because of hard plastics in the lower cabin and doors compared with the BMW X1 and Audi Q3.

Fit & finish72
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

XC40s from the Ghent plant are generally well assembled, with consistent panel gaps. J.D. Power's initial-quality rating is only average, and early-generation owner complaints about trim and hardware keep it off the top band.

Dealer & service network55
#6 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Volvo has roughly 280 US dealers, far fewer than BMW, Mercedes-Benz or Lexus, and most are on the coasts and in major metros. Owners in rural or interior areas can face long drives for warranty work, and service satisfaction is mid-pack.

Parts availability & repair cost48
#5 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Parts are priced at European-luxury levels and come mostly through dealer channels, with a thinner independent aftermarket than the German brands. Maintenance costs run above the all-brand average, and the timing-belt service is a large one-time bill.

7Technology & InfotainmentGrades below the middle of the scale.1.47D
Touchscreen size
9.0 in portrait Sensus display (all trims)
24/100
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

The 2020 XC40 uses Volvo's 9-inch portrait Sensus touchscreen on every trim; no larger screen is offered.

Infotainment UX & responsiveness58
#5 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Sensus looks crisp and is tablet-like, but buries climate and many functions behind swipes and submenus with almost no physical controls, and can lag — reviewers repeatedly call the touchscreen interface a drawback.

Wireless CarPlay / Android Auto45
#6 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard but wired-only via USB on every 2020 trim; wireless projection is not offered.

Voice control & native navigation55
#4 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Sensus navigation is optional (Premium package) rather than standard, and Volvo's command-style voice control is clumsy next to natural-language rivals; most owners fall back on phone projection.

Audio system quality74
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

The base 8-speaker system is adequate; the optional 13-speaker Harman Kardon upgrade is inexpensive and widely praised.

Digital instrument cluster80
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

A 12.3-inch digital driver display is standard and can show the navigation map, though configurability trails Audi's Virtual Cockpit.

OTA update capability30
#6 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

The Sensus-era XC40 has no meaningful over-the-air software updates — system updates are done at the dealer, with only map updates downloadable; whole-vehicle OTA arrived with the Android-based cars.

Companion app & remote functions66
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Volvo On Call covers remote lock/unlock, locate, remote start and climate pre-conditioning, but owners report sluggish or failed commands and the service is subscription-based after the included term.

Charging ports & device power60
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

USB-C ports up front are forward-looking for 2020, but wireless phone charging is optional (package) and rear ports and a household outlet are limited.

Keyless & remote access65
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Push-button start is standard; keyless entry and the hands-free power tailgate come in the Premium package; remote start via Volvo On Call. No phone-as-key.

Camera & parking aids62
#3 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

A rear camera and rear park sensors are standard; the 360-degree camera and Park Assist Pilot are optional extras, and the surround view's resolution is middling.

Head-up display availability25
#5 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

No head-up display is offered on the 2020 XC40 at any trim or in any package.

8Use-Case FitMid-pack among this car's ten categories.1.86C-
Kid & car-seat practicality68
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Square door openings and a tall roof ease car-seat installs and the big door bins swallow family clutter, but the ~21 cu ft hold struggles with a full-size stroller plus groceries.

Family safety package80
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

NHTSA five stars overall and IIHS Top Safety Pick, with City Safety AEB and lane-keeping standard; blind-spot monitoring, rear auto-brake and Pilot Assist cost extra.

Family road-trip comfort60
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Excellent front seats and a quiet cabin, but a flat rear bench, basic rear amenities and a small hold limit four-up luggage on longer trips.

Daily driving ease70
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

The commanding seating position and early turbo torque make traffic easy, but a beat of lag from rest, abrupt stop-start and touchscreen-buried climate controls add friction.

Commuting cost efficiency42
#4 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

The volume T5 AWD returns 25 MPG combined on premium fuel — about $3,300 a year per EPA — expensive for the class; the regular-fuel T4 FWD is notably cheaper.

Parking & maneuverability80
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

A compact ~174-in footprint, square hood, tall glasshouse and a 37.4-ft turning circle make it easy in the city; the 360 camera is optional.

Work capability40
#3 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Not a work vehicle — small hold, no bed — though a 3,500-lb tow rating lifts it to the top of the low band.

Durability for work duty38
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Luxury interior with no wear-friendly trim, a turbocharged four on premium fuel, and no fleet presence.

Jobsite & upfit practicality34
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

No household outlet or upfit ecosystem and carpeted surfaces; only consumer cargo hooks, the folding floor divider and roof rails.

Long-distance comfort & range60
#3 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Superb front seats and a quiet cabin, but roughly 355 miles of range from a 14.2-gal tank and Pilot Assist only in the optional Advanced package limit touring credentials.

Outdoor & adventure capability55
#3 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

T5 AWD, about 8.3 in of clearance with hill descent control, roof rails and a 3,500-lb tow rating handle gravel roads and bike racks, but the T4 is FWD-only and there's no off-road hardware.

Gear & luggage flexibility56
#3 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

The square hold, folding floor divider and underfloor cubby use the limited space well and a 60/40 fold gives 57.5 cu ft, but bulky gear is a squeeze.

9Driving ExperienceMid-pack among this car's ten categories.2.37C+
Handling & agility66
#5 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Secure and predictable with decent grip, but tuned for comfort with noticeable body roll — less agile than the BMW X1; the R-Design's stiffer suspension tightens it slightly.

Steering feel62
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Accurate and easy to place but light with little feedback.

Braking confidence70
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Conventional (non-hybrid) brakes give a firm, progressive pedal; stopping distances test mid-pack for the class.

Powertrain smoothness & response63
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

The T5 pulls strongly once boost builds, but turbo lag off the line, an abrupt conventional stop-start and hesitant low-speed 8-speed take-up hurt drivability.

Drivetrain noise & vibration66
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Insulation keeps the 2.0-liter four subdued at cruise, but it turns coarse when worked hard and stop-start restarts send a shudder through the cabin.

Turning circle
37.4 ft (11.4 m)
58/100
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Mid-pack for a subcompact luxury SUV — tighter than the BMW X1.

Driving position & ergonomics70
#3 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

High, upright seating and deep glass give excellent sightlines, but touchscreen-buried climate controls and front ergonomics flagged by some reviewers cost points.

Fun-to-drive factor58
#4 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

The T5's 248 hp and 6.2-s 0–60 give it real pace, but numb steering and a comfort-tuned chassis mean it rarely invites the long way home.

10Value & Market PositionThe XC40's best-graded category.2.82B-
Standard equipment generosity72
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Every 2020 XC40 gets City Safety AEB, lane keeping, LED headlights, the 12.3-inch digital cluster, 9-inch Sensus touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and 3 years of included maintenance. Blind-spot monitoring, Pilot Assist, heated wheel, panoramic roof and power tailgate largely sit in packages or upper trims.

Feature value per dollar70
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

A $34.7K start and ~$36.7K for the 248-hp T5 AWD Momentum undercut the BMW X1, Mercedes GLB and Lexus UX on powertrain per dollar while bundling a strong safety suite and included maintenance. Held back by middling cargo space and efficiency.

Trim & configuration breadth68
#1 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Two engines (T4 187 hp FWD, T5 248 hp AWD) across three distinct-character trims (Momentum, sporty R-Design, luxury Inscription), all six combinations orderable. Well-spaced, but the T4 is FWD-only and there was no hybrid or EV yet in the US for 2020.

Sales popularity & market acceptance62
#3 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

In a pandemic-disrupted year the XC40 still sold 23,778 US units, up on its 2019 launch-year total and one of Volvo's best sellers — a solid mid-pack performer behind the BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA/GLB volume leaders.

Brand desirability & image76
#5 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Volvo's safety-and-Scandinavian-design image is distinctive and earns real loyalty, but trails BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi in aspirational pull and the badge premium that supports resale.

Deals & incentive availability64
#6 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

MY2020 sold before the chip shortage bit: Volvo ran subvented leases and spring-2020 COVID-era 0%/deferred-payment financing offers across its lineup, though discounts tightened as inventory thinned late in the year.

Model freshness80
#3 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

2020 is only the second US model year of a generation launched for MY2019 on Volvo's new CMA platform, with current safety tech and design; the facelift wouldn't arrive until MY2023.

Critical reception & awards74
#2 of 7 Subcompact Luxury SUVsCompare all →

Fresh off 2018 European Car of the Year and 2019 North American Utility of the Year, the 2020 XC40 was widely ranked near the top of the class for design, comfort, safety and the peppy T5, with knocks for the laggy Sensus touchscreen and modest cargo space.
